TaterScots Finish State Tournament with Top Recognition

TaterScots posing together at States

The Saint Andrew’s School robotics community is buzzing with pride as Team #641, The TaterScots, finished their state tournament late Saturday night, March 7, 2026. The team delivered a masterclass in technical precision, claiming first place in the entire state for the Control Award.

The success of the TaterScots at this level of competition underscores a deep commitment to excellence. By winning this award, the team demonstrated a remarkable ability to bridge the gap between hardware and sophisticated software, successfully navigating the season's most difficult game challenges.

As defined by FIRST, the Control Award celebrates a team that uses sensors and software to increase a robot’s functionality during gameplay. This award is given to the team that demonstrates innovative thinking and solutions to solve challenges such as autonomous operation, intelligent control, and sensor integration.

This recognition is a testament to the team’s ability to document their logic and software summaries in their Engineering Portfolio, demonstrating that their technical solutions performed consistently under the pressure of state-level competition.

Congratulations to the following students for their tireless dedication and incredible showing this season:

Lex Caroll '29, Eli Cornell '26, Kiley Dahl '27, Bree Goggins '26, Shirley Hu '27, Sofiia Kitsul '26, Lily Montero '29, Alejandro Mora '26, Peter Roth '26, Mia Song '27, Daniel Stoica '26, Tim Tian '27, Cindy Wang '29, Amelia Yang '26, and Emily Yu '29.

The professionalism and technical ingenuity displayed by the TaterScots reflect the core values of Saint Andrew's School. Their work this season provided a powerful platform for purposeful learning, allowing these students to apply advanced STEM concepts to real-world engineering hurdles.
