Saint Andrew’s Students Lead with Purpose at Breakthrough Miami Summer Institute 2025

Saint Andrew's School students and alumni who worked at Breakthrough during the summer of 2025

This summer, Saint Andrew’s School once again partnered with Breakthrough Miami to host its Summer Institute, welcoming 172 Scholars for six weeks of discovery, growth, and community. Guided by the theme “Breakthrough Magic” and inspired by Saint Andrew’s school-wide theme of Purpose, the program gave students opportunities to explore academics, enrichment, and leadership in meaningful ways.

Breakthrough Scholars in grades five through eight built skills in English, Math, Science, and Social Studies while also taking part in electives such as robotics, poetry, finance, art, and debate. Field trips to the FAU Brain Institute, Boca Art Museum, Marine Education Initiative, and the Ray Hotel enriched classroom learning, while Fun Fridays, pool days, and Celebration Day added joy and connection.

Breakthrough Miami is known for its student-teaching-student model, and this summer, nine Saint Andrew’s students took part in teaching Breakthrough Scholars. Serving as Teaching Fellows, Teaching Assistants, and Volunteers, they taught lessons, mentored Scholars, and modeled leadership.

Saint Andrew’s students and recent graduates who served this summer included:

  • Sean Alba ’25 – Grade 8 Social Studies
  • Hannah Anglemyer ’26 – Grade 5 Math
  • Joanna Deng ’25 – Grade 7 Math
  • Lea Franiuk ’26 – Grade 5 English
  • Siena Franiuk ’28 – Volunteer
  • Sabrina Greenberg ’26 – Grade 8 Social Studies
  • Lane Harrison ’26 – Grade 7 Social Studies
  • Maggie Kniskern ’26 – Grade 8 English
  • Emily Parra ’24 – Grade 7 Science

With nearly 200 Scholars served, dozens of enrichment opportunities offered, and nine Saint Andrew’s students stepping into leadership roles, the Summer Institute 2025 truly reflected the Breakthrough Magic and the deeper call to live with purpose.
