For Saint Andrew’s Charlotte Errico ’28, a passion for ideas, storytelling, collaboration, and a strong sense of purpose has quickly grown into a leadership role on one of the world’s most recognized platforms for innovation and thought sharing.

In early February, Charlotte served as an associate producer and co-organizer of TEDxMizner Boulevard, a Boca Raton–based event affiliated with TED. The event marked the first time the local TEDx program was hosted at Mizner Park and brought together speakers, community members, and thought leaders for a full day of talks centered on the theme Disruption in the Age of AI.

Charlotte’s journey into the world of TED began last year in Saint Andrew’s TED-Ed course, where she wrote and delivered her own talk.

“I became really passionate about TED last year when I did the TED-Ed class and wrote my own talk,” she said. “I've watched so many TED talks, and I really enjoy watching them and consuming them as a part of media. I think they're really educational and also interesting.”

Encouraged by that experience and inspired by her teacher, Dr. Lisa Winer, Charlotte began reaching out to event organizers to get involved behind the scenes. What started as logistics assistance soon evolved into a much larger leadership role.

“I reached out in the very early stages of TEDxMizner,” she explained. “Over time, my participation just sort of compounded, and I ended up becoming an associate producer by the time the event wrapped. That was really exciting.”

In her role, Charlotte worked closely with speakers, helping them refine their talks through script editing, coaching, and preparation. She assisted presenters in clarifying their “through line,” the central message that anchors each TED talk.

“The thing that really connects with me about TED is the idea that everyone has an idea worth spreading,” she said. “If I can help someone refine that idea and bring it to life, that’s really meaningful to me and gives my work a real sense of purpose.”

Charlotte described the experience of working with accomplished professionals as both challenging and empowering.

“It was honestly surreal,” she said. “You get comfortable in your own skin, especially when you’re younger, giving feedback to adults and helping them shape their ideas.”

One of her favorite collaborations was with entrepreneur Eric Malka, founder of The Art of Shaving.

“Getting to edit his talk and see his idea come to life was just mind-blowing,” she said. “I probably edited that talk two or three times a day. Watching the progress from the first draft to the final version was incredible.”

The sold-out event welcomed between 60 and 100 attendees and ran from afternoon into the evening, marking a successful debut for the Mizner Boulevard TEDx program.

Charlotte’s involvement with TED extends far beyond this single event. This year alone, she is serving as an associate producer for three separate TEDx programs, including the upcoming TEDx Lake Worth Beach in March and the TEDxSaintAndrews event in April.

She is also deeply involved on campus, mentoring younger students and helping cultivate the next generation of speakers. She serves as an assistant instructor for Saint Andrew’s TED enrichment program, guiding Middle and Lower School students as they develop their own talks for this year’s TEDxSaintAndrews.

“I mentored a Lower School student all the way through her talk,” Charlotte said. “She's doing great right now as well. Her talk, I can't spoil it yet, just because it has to, you know, be under wraps, but I really enjoyed working with her.”

In addition, she has edited multiple student and alumni talks across the Upper, Middle, and Lower Schools, helping speakers refine their messaging and presentation skills.

Despite balancing academics, extracurriculars, and event production, Charlotte says the work feels less like an obligation and more like a passion.

“It’s definitely time-consuming, but it’s super fun,” she said. “Every time you click on someone’s script, you learn something new. It’s a really exciting way to build your knowledge.”

Reflecting on her experience, Charlotte says one of her biggest takeaways has been the power of perseverance and growth.

“Never underestimate first impressions,” she said. “Some people might not seem like strong speakers at first, but with hard work and rehearsal, they can become incredible performers. Watching that progress was really eye-opening.”

For students interested in getting involved, her advice is simple.

“Don’t be afraid to reach out and start the conversation,” she said. “If you feel passionate about something and you know you’re good at it, don’t let uncertainty stop you from pursuing it.”

Through her leadership, mentorship, and dedication to amplifying ideas, Charlotte embodies the spirit of TED’s mission. By helping others share their voices, she is not only shaping meaningful conversations within the Saint Andrew’s community but also contributing to a broader culture of curiosity, creativity, innovation, and purpose.
