The pursuit of excellence took center stage at the Chapel of St. Andrew as the community gathered for the 59th Annual Cum Laude Induction Ceremony. This year, 33 exceptional juniors and seniors were recognized for their intellectual rigor and commitment to the pillars of justice and honor. The formal induction took place on April 27, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the academic careers of these Saint Andrew’s scholars.

This year’s keynote address was delivered by John Mendoza ’12, who was a Cum Laude member at Saint Andrew’s School. He was introduced by Dr. Paul Gresser.

Mendoza shared several core lessons with the students, most notably that it is okay to fail as long as you have the drive to work hard and keep moving forward.

The Cum Laude Society, a national independent school honor society, was founded in 1906 and established at Saint Andrew’s School in 1968. Honoring scholastic achievement and qualities of excellence, justice, and honor in secondary schools, induction in Cum Laude is the highest academic honor awarded by Saint Andrew’s School. Students are selected from among the top 20% of seniors and the top 10% of juniors based on the previous three semesters. They must have a minimum of a 4.4 weighted GPA and a minimum of a 3.8 unweighted GPA. In addition to demonstrating academic excellence, students are expected to demonstrate qualities of honor and justice.
