SA World Languages Department Chair Named President of Florida Foreign Language Association

Elle Anthony

Dr. Elle M. Anthony, the World Languages Department Chair, was elected President of the Florida Foreign Language Association (FFLA) at its recent conference in Daytona Beach, FL. Dr. Anthony is excited and deeply honored to be taking on this role.

“As an educator, I believe it's crucial to stay connected with the world around us, and as a world language teacher, I adhere to the association's mission to create a culturally and linguistically inclusive Florida that promotes all languages, fosters awareness, and encourages diversity through advocacy and professional development,” said Dr. Anthony.

With this new role comes two exciting opportunities for both Dr. Anthony and Saint Andrew’s. In March 2024, Dr. Anthony will represent the state of Florida at the Southern Conference on Language Teaching (SCOLT) in Atlanta. In May 2024, Saint Andrew's, in collaboration with FFLA and Vista Higher, will host its first World Language Summer Institute at Saint Andrew's School.

“This is a significant opportunity for our school to be a leader in the area and to offer professional development workshops to language teachers from public and private schools in South Florida,” said Dr. Anthony.

Congratulations to Dr. Anthony on this outstanding achievement. We look forward to hearing about her tenure as President of FFLA and to Saint Andrew’s hosting of the World Language Summer Institute.
