SA Model United Nations Team Wins Numerous Awards at South Florida MUN Conference

SA MUN team at 9th Annual Miami High School Model UN Conference

Thirteen Upper School students and faculty members, Dr. Jason Schipper and Mrs. Julie Scheidegger, traveled to Palmetto Bay to participate in the 9th Annual Miami High School Model UN Conference on Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8.

Organized by and held at Palmer Trinity School, MIAMUN IX consisted of over 150 student delegates from Saint Andrew’s, Ransom Everglades, and Palmer Trinity. Participants explored various world issues and devised solutions through discussion, negotiation, and debate.

Students simulated roles as delegates on the General Assembly, Security Council, International Criminal Court, and Joint Crisis Committee. The Saint Andrew’s Model UN Team was assigned various delegations and represented countries such as Austria, Botswana, China, Greece, Pakistan, and Sweden. Select SA students also represented political figures such as Adul Boonthamchareon, Peng Ponea, and Vongsey Vissoth in the Crisis Committee focused on the Thailand and Cambodia border crisis.

In addition to the team's delegates’ roles, SA MUN Team Members Caroline Martin ’27, Emmanuel Bravo ’28, and Char Errico ’28 served as Committee Chairs, with Quinn Morse ’26 serving in the prestigious role of International Criminal Court judge. For many members of the SA MUN team, this was their first non-Saint Andrew’s MUN Conference, and they had impressive performances.

Seven delegates took home top awards for their performances in their respective committees. Veronica Sher ’29 won the Most Improved Delegate award, Quinn Morse ’26 received an Honorable Mention, Jordan Jaffe ’27 and Warren Feng ’28 won Outstanding Delegate, and Carmela Coleman ’27, Charlotte Rowling ’28, and Alyssa Santiago ’27 won Best Delegate, the top award given at the conference.

Congratulations to all the students who participated in the conference.
