SA Key Club Students Give Back and Grow Their Impact This Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving, Key Club President Alex Horowitz ’26 continued a meaningful Saint Andrew’s tradition rooted in purpose and service. The tradition began in 2017 when Alex’s brother, Nick Horowitz ’21, founded the Click Club and launched an effort to deliver Thanksgiving turkeys and full holiday meals to families in need. Alex has upheld the tradition as a member and now president of Key Club.

“I have continued the tradition my brother Nick started,” Alex shared. “He and I began delivering turkeys with all the sides in 2017, along with other club members.” Each year, Alex and fellow students, including Nicholas Horowitz ’21, Lindsey Butters ’26, and Bryant Peck ’29, deliver about 20 meals and maintain long-standing relationships with many of the families. They stay connected throughout the year to offer tutoring and support whenever possible.

This year, Alex’s sense of purpose led him to take an even bigger step. Through years of deliveries, he grew close to a single mother of four, who works as a nurse and lives in cramped quarters with her own mother.

Determined to help, he assisted in building an outdoor home addition to give the family more space. “It was a long process, but we recently completed it,” he shared. “This is where the family will be enjoying Thanksgiving dinner!”

Reflecting on the impact, Alex added, “I am proud of the service we have provided throughout the years. It brings me joy knowing families will be having amazing Thanksgiving celebrations thanks to our efforts.” He will pass the Key Club presidency to Bryant Peck next year, continuing the tradition.

“What started with me in middle school, watching my brother Nick, will continue on,” Alex said. “I’m thankful to be a Scot, and for the lessons of the giving spirit I’ve learned at Saint Andrew’s.”

This year’s work stands as a powerful example of living with purpose and making a lasting difference.
