Saint Andrew’s Lower School community came together for a meaningful volunteer event that allowed families to give back by assembling 600 backpacks for students in need. During Student-Led Conference Day on Friday, May 9, parents and Lower School students gathered in the Weprin Family Student Center to pack backpacks with essential school supplies and brand-new books.
This impactful community service event was made possible through a special partnership with The Brooke Jackman Foundation, founded by Saint Andrew’s parent Erin Jackman and her family. The foundation was established in memory of Erin’s sister, Brooke Jackman, who lost her life on 9/11 at the age of 23. One of its signature programs, Back to School with Brooke Pack, equips children with new backpacks, school supplies, and books to help them start the school year strong.
Thanks to this partnership and the hard work of the SA volunteers, 600 fully stocked backpacks were delivered that same afternoon to Forest Park Elementary, a Title I school in Boynton Beach. Every child in grades K–5 at the school will receive a backpack filled with the tools they need to start the next school year ready to learn.
“It was amazing to see our students so caring and excited to pack these special backpacks for other children their own age who live in underserved communities,” said Erin Jackman.
The event brought together Lower School students, their families, faculty, and staff for a hands-on act of service that directly impacted children in need and showcased the compassion and spirit of service that defines the Saint Andrew’s community.
