The National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced on September 9 that six Saint Andrew's seniors have been named National Merit Semifinalists in the 72nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Our Semifinalists will compete alongside more than 16,000 other academically talented high school seniors for a chance to earn one of about 6,700 National Merit Scholarships, worth approximately $24 million, to be offered next spring.
Congratulations to National Merit Semifinalists Maximo Banegas, Adrian Fente, Xiaoying Hua, Shivaanishree Karthik, Caroline Martin, and Ziyou Tian.
To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, these students must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. The National Merit Scholarship Program honors individual students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
