Celebrating 20 Years of Wight Hall – The Center for Performing Arts

Wight Hall

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Wight Hall – The Center for Performing Arts at Saint Andrew’s School. Since its opening in 2005, originally as Andrews Hall – The Center for Performing Arts, this 35,000-square-foot facility has served as the heart of the school’s vibrant performing arts program. Later renamed Wight Hall - The Center for Performing Arts, the building has provided two decades of unforgettable performances, creativity, and inspiration for performing arts students.

At the center of the building is the 655-seat Roberts Theater, a stage that has hosted countless productions, concerts, and assemblies over the years. Beyond the main stage, Wight Hall is a hub of artistic expression, featuring a black box theater and dedicated practice spaces for band, orchestra, percussion, guitar, and choral groups.

Under the leadership of Jason King, Director of Performing Arts, the anniversary has also been marked by a series of exciting renovations and upgrades designed to enhance the community’s experience and prepare Wight Hall for its next chapter.

Recent updates include:

  • Studio 19, a new space for students, teachers, and parents to spend time between lessons, rehearsals, and classes

  • A new percussion studio

  • Four former offices restored to practice rooms for students and teachers

  • A renovated collaboration office for seven faculty members

  • A refreshed workspace for faculty and staff

  • Backstage improvements to increase efficiency

  • A reorganized and updated costume and prop room

  • New equipment and furnishings for classrooms and hallways, including additional seating and updated awards honoring student achievements

“These past 20 years of Wight Hall have been filled with creativity, passion, and unforgettable performances,” said Jason King. “I couldn’t be more excited to honor this legacy while looking ahead to the next chapter of imagination, artistry, and purpose that will inspire generations to come.”

As Wight Hall celebrates two decades of artistic excellence, the building continues to stand as a cornerstone of the Saint Andrew’s experience—nurturing creativity, showcasing student talent, and providing a home for the arts where imagination and purpose unite.
