Trumpet Genie Wins SA's NFTE Innovate South Florida Business Plan Competition

Adrian Fente with his Trumpet Genie and the judges of the NFTE competition at Saint Andrew's School

This year, 55 students across 14 teams in Ms. Magaletti's Honors Finance and Investment class participated in the 8th annual Saint Andrew's NFTE Innovate South Florida Business Plan competition on Friday, February 28, and Wednesday, March 5 in the auditorium in Cohen Center.

Students who take this course are required to participate in this competition at Saint Andrew's. The students worked in groups to develop a business idea to pitch along with the financial projections for the business idea.

On Friday, groups participated in the semi-final competition, judged by business professionals Tanya Avrith, Lee Feldman, and Stu Gold. Four groups made it to the finals held on Friday and were judged by Marius Ged, Nima Patel, Carly Swartzwald '03, and Rich Veins.

The four groups that made it to the finals included:

  • Richard Breeden '26, Christopher D’Angelo '26, Matteo Moran '26, Dylan Moseley '25, and David Yokeum '25 with their product Freak Sauce
  • Sean Burk '25, Lucas Collard '27, Nerea Gutierrez '26, and Ryan Miller '25 with their business UniVerse
  • Ariana Alb '26, Philip Dartnell '25, and Holden Weisman '26 with their business Grand Prix Threads
  • Adrian Fente '27 with his product Trumpet Genie

After the four groups presented and answered questions from the judges, it was time for the judges to deliberate and announce the winner. The winner this year was Adrian Fente with Trumpet Genie. Adrian will represent Saint Andrew's at a regional NFTE event in Miami against other private schools in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties in April.

Once the competition was over, Ms. Magaletti said, “I love seeing students develop an entrepreneurial mindset, become passionate about their concepts, and work together to deliver confident and dynamic presentations. We are so lucky to have the opportunity for students to present their ideas to a panel of industry experts from our community who can offer valuable feedback and input, supporting further iteration and inspiration for their ideas. Experiences like this help students bring their visions to life while learning from real-world professionals. Each year, the energy from students at the culmination of the event is palpable and I think this has helped to support the growth of this program over time.”

Congratulations to all the students for participating in this exciting competition, and good luck to Adrian!
