Student-Led Card Project Lifts Spirits After California Wildfires

Village School Kindergarteners showing off cards they got from Saint Andrew's School students

Following the devastating wildfires in Pacific Palisades, CA, which destroyed homes, businesses, and Village School itself, students at SA came together to offer support in a meaningful way. Of Village School’s 290 students, 82 lost their homes and 43 were displaced.

Led by Eli '26 and Piper '28 Cornell, SA students created dozens of handmade cards filled with messages of encouragement and colorful artwork to lift the spirits of Village School’s PK-6 students as they began classes in a temporary office building.

The Village School community was thrilled to receive the cards and wrote, “Our kindergartners truly enjoyed reading and looking through all the cards. Please extend our thanks to the school for sending such thoughtful notes of encouragement.”

This simple, student-led act brought smiles and hope during a difficult time, showing the power of kindness and community across the miles.
