Strong Start for Saint Andrew’s Mu Alpha Theta in Florida Math League

Saint Andrew’s Mu Alpha Theta members kicked off the Florida Math League season with an impressive performance in the first competition of the year. 

Out of 36 students who participated, the top five scores were earned by Erin Cabera-Hock, Kiley Dahl, Cameron MacKay, Hamish (Jiaye) Miao, and Daniel Stoica, resulting in a combined team total of 26 points. Daniel Stoica achieved a perfect score of 6 out of 6, while the others earned scores of 5 out of 6. Saint Andrew’s is now tied for third place in the state of Florida after the first round. 

Mathematics Department Chair and Mu Alpha Theta faculty advisor Kristofer McCullough shared his pride in the team’s performance, saying, “These students are examples of the best and brightest math students in our school and show how strong a team we have.”

With six competitions scheduled throughout the year and a top-10 finish last year, the Saint Andrew’s Mu Alpha Theta team is off to a strong start. The next Florida Math League test takes place next week.
