MS Students Honored with Learner Profile Award for Being Thinkers

MYP Thinker award winners

This week in Chapel we recognized three students whom the grade level teams selected as students who clearly embody the IB Learner Profile attribute of being Thinkers.

According to the IB, as Thinkers:
“We use critical and creative thinking skills to analyze and take responsible action on complex problems. We exercise initiative in making reasoned, ethical decisions.”

To honor the virtues that they bring to our school community as role models, their grade-level teachers wrote a short summary of what traits they possess that make them stand out as thinkers.

Grade 6 - Gracie Strollo
An exceptional thinker and strong writer, Gracie makes insightful comments and is willing to persevere through problem-solving. Moreover, she critically examines ethical dilemmas, talking through them and recognizing both sides.

Grade 7 - Madeline Wallach
Madeline’s inner drive to make the best of her learning time is what makes her a great representation of the Thinker profile. She is focused and observant, gives great attention to detail, works well independently or with a group, and always strives to apply feedback effectively. Madeline is a thinker who goes above and beyond in all that she does!

Grade 8 - Merritt Kanzer
Always willing to go deeper, Merritt’s desire for knowledge is an inherent part of her personality. Her ability to make connections across disciplines demonstrates her commitment to using her thinking skills to their utmost capabilities. Merritt recognizes the importance of taking her time with her studies in order to truly understand concepts and ideas to the highest degree.

Join us in congratulating these students for being outstanding thinkers!
