MS IB Learner Profile Awards – Thinker

MYP Thinker Award Winners in Middle School

This week during assembly, we recognized students selected by the grade-level teams for being students who embody the IB Learner Profile attribute of Thinker. Below is the list of students and the words that were said about them by their teachers. 

Grade 6:

Alexis Gordon: This student is a fantastic example of a sixth-grade thinker! This week, she used her creative and critical thinking skills to analyze the teacher's outfits. She was asking questions, analyzing, and making predictions about the themes. She even got her friends involved in the fun. In class, she always tries her best, asks questions to make sure she understands and keeps a positive attitude. Her ability to make good decisions and take action shows she's a true MYP thinker!

Daniel Muñoz Gregori: This student truly embodies the spirit of an MYP thinker in sixth grade. He consistently makes connections between what we're learning in class and his past experiences, demonstrating his critical and creative thinking skills. When his opinion differs from what's being discussed, he respectfully challenges the statement and explains his thinking, seeking deeper clarity and understanding. His thoughtfulness extends beyond academics, as he always considers others by holding doors open whenever leaving a space. His worldly insights enrich our class discussions, making him a true MYP thinker.

 

Grade 7:

Ezra Kovacs: This Scot demonstrates impressive critical thinking and responsibility, always engaging deeply with ideas in class and making thoughtful connections to the real world. His initiative in seeking out support and his ability to take concepts beyond the surface level show his commitment to growth and learning. His dedication to analyzing complex problems and making ethical, reasoned decisions make him truly deserving of the Thinker award.

Jake Friedman: This Scot exemplifies the qualities of a true thinker, consistently asking thoughtful questions and seeking clarification to deepen his understanding. His respectful approach to learning and commitment to improvement reflect his desire to do his best and grow from each experience. His initiative in taking responsible actions to better himself makes him a well-deserving recipient of the Thinker award.

 

Grade 8:

Annabel Condon: Always wanting to go deeper in her learning and understanding, this student often reaches out to teachers for support—wanting to clarify ideas and seeking additional feedback on her work. She takes the time to truly consider each question asked, ensuring that she is not only answering the question at hand but also making connections across other disciplines.

Matias Mendez: This Scot is the type of student who teachers love to teach because of his innate love of learning. He approaches each task with care and concern—wanting to do his best not simply for a grade because he genuinely is interested in a subject. This inspires both students and teachers alike and encourages others in the Scot community to challenge themselves academically.
