MS IB Learner Profile Awards – Reflective winners

This week during assembly, we recognized students selected by the grade-level teams for being students who embody the IB Learner Profile attribute of being Reflective. Below is the list of students and the words that were said about them by their teachers. 

 

Grade 6

Mikenzie Roberti: This student shows an incredible dedication to growth by constantly seeking ways to improve her work and make it even better. She asks thoughtful questions, seeks help when needed, and uses her strong self-awareness to understand both her strengths and areas for growth. Her commitment to reflection and continuous improvement makes her a shining example of the MYP Reflective learner.

Ryan Katz: This student demonstrates the spirit of reflection every day by encouraging peers to share their ideas and truly listening, even when opinions are different from their own. They often seek feedback to improve and ask questions not for points, but to better understand and grow. Their thoughtful approach to learning and personal development makes them a true example of the MYP Reflective learner.

 

Grade 7

Peter Garcia: This Scot embodies the qualities of a reflective learner, consistently thinking about how he can grow both academically and personally. He is thoughtful, caring, and always strives to be a good teammate and someone others can count on. This Scot is genuinely responsive to feedback, showing a strong desire to improve and to do what is right, even when no one is watching. Although he only joined our community in sixth grade, he jumped in wholeheartedly, and his steady, kind presence makes it feel like he’s been here all along.

Emilia Sanabria: This Scot demonstrates what it means to be a reflective learner through her thoughtful engagement and growth-minded approach. She asks insightful questions about teacher feedback, carefully reads instructions, and seeks clarification when needed in order to always produce her best work. This Scot often connects classroom learning to her own experiences and family, deepening both her understanding and the conversation around her. Her ability to reflect, adjust, and grow is an asset to our learning community.

 

Grade 8

Madeline Wallach: This student demonstrates a deep and insightful approach to reflection, consistently engaging in thoughtful analysis of their work. They communicate their ideas with clarity and depth, showing a strong awareness of their strengths and areas for growth. Their reflections go beyond surface-level thinking, guiding them to set meaningful goals and improve continuously. Their thoroughness, combined with a drive to grow academically and personally, makes them a powerful example of a reflective learner.

Joseph Honig: This student leads with quiet confidence, showing reflection through action and careful decision-making. Whether navigating a complex robotics challenge or balancing multiple commitments, they take time to pause, assess the situation, and thoughtfully determine their next steps. Their calm, considered approach to problem-solving highlights a strong internal awareness and a genuine commitment to growth. They embody the reflective mindset through thoughtful observation, adaptability, and resilience.
