MS IB Learner Profile Awards – Balanced

IB Learner Profile - Balanced students honored in Middle School

This week during assembly, we recognized students selected by the grade-level teams for being students who embody the IB Learner Profile attribute of being Balanced. Below is the list of students and the words that were said about them by their teachers. 

Grade 6

Jayden JimenezThis student is a wonderful example of what it means to be balanced. He knows how to manage work and play, staying centered and focused even when chaos is all around him—both in and out of the classroom. Whether he's participating in group work, playing outside, or simply balancing on his chair, he shows a deep understanding of how to care for his own well-being while contributing positively to those around him.

Grace O'SullivanThis student truly embodies the MYP Balanced Award by showing kindness and respect to everyone, making her a valued friend across many groups. She is a ray of sunshine and understands the importance of balancing work and play, approaching both with positivity and focus. Her ability to stay grounded while supporting those around her reflects a strong sense of well-being and interdependence.

 

Grade 7

Matthew BergquistMatthew exemplifies the qualities of a balanced individual through his calm, positive attitude and thoughtful approach to both challenges and daily life. During our recent field trip, he responded to unexpected changes with maturity and a “go with the flow” mindset that helped set the tone for those around him. He works hard in school, participates in sports year-round, and consistently shows respect and care for himself and others. Matthew’s ability to remain grounded while supporting those around him makes him deserving of this recognition.

Chase KornChase exemplifies the qualities of a balanced individual through his steady, upbeat attitude and inclusive spirit. During the Busch Gardens portion of our recent field trip, he stood out as someone who helped make the experience fun and smooth for everyone—teachers included. Whether he’s making new friends or embracing opportunities with a smile, Chase’s ability to connect with all kinds of people while staying grounded makes him truly deserving of this recognition.

 

Grade 8

Henry Cowles:  This student demonstrates a thoughtful and grounded approach to all aspects of school life. With a calm presence and growing confidence, they consistently show empathy, collaboration, and determination in everything they do. Their ability to maintain a healthy balance between academics, athletics, social connections, and emotional well-being sets a positive example for others. They lead with kindness and show that balance is not just about managing tasks, but about building meaningful relationships and staying true to oneself.

Lauren JacobsThis student exemplifies balance through their active involvement in academics, athletics, and service—always with a spirit of kindness and care for others. They lead by example, consistently demonstrating empathy, collaboration, and determination. They take time to connect with others, offering support and collaboration while also taking care of their own needs. Their thoughtful approach to both their work and relationships reflects a deep understanding of how to live a balanced and purposeful life.
