MS IB Learner Profile Award - Reflective

Learner Profile Reflective group photo

At our last MS Chapel, we recognized our final round of IB Learner Profile Awards. This time, we honored students who emulated the attributes of Reflective learners. According to the IB, a Reflective learner "..thoughtfully consider the world and our own ideas and experience. [They] work to understand [their] strengths and weaknesses in order to support [their] learning and personal development."

In addition to presenting the awards, the grade-level teams wrote a short summary of why these students epitomize these attributes. Below, you will find the three students who received the Reflective Award, along with why the grade-level teams felt they deserved these awards.

Grade 6 - Emilia (Emi) Sanabria

Emi embodies the essence of the IB learner profile, reflective. She consistently demonstrates resilience in her approach to learning, viewing mistakes not as setbacks but as opportunities for growth. Emi's contemplative demeanor allows her to delve deep into her learning experiences, always seeking to understand and improve. Emi doesn't just receive feedback passively; she actively engages with it, looking to incorporate it into her future endeavors. She is a shining example of a student who embraces reflection as a tool for personal and academic development, and her commitment to improvement serves as an inspiration to her peers.

Grade 7 - Lauren Jacobs

Lauren is a reflective and responsible student, distinguished by her disciplined approach to academics. She actively seeks to improve by asking insightful questions and graciously accepting feedback, which allows her to learn and grow from each experience. Her strength in academics is further enhanced by her ability to reflect on and adjust her strategies, demonstrating a continuous commitment to personal and academic development.

Grade 8 - Gustavo Schuch

Gustavo carefully considers himself and the world around him to make the best possible decisions that will positively impact all involved. He takes the time to look at all possible perspectives in order to find the best solution. Most importantly, if, for whatever reason, he does find the best solution, Gustavo will reflect on his mistakes, learn from them, and move forward with this new knowledge to ensure future success.

Join us in congratulating these students for being Reflective learners!
