Middle School IB Learner Profile Awards – Thinker

MS IB MYP Thinker winner 2025

This week, during assembly, we recognized students selected by the grade-level teams for being students who embody the IB Learner Profile attribute of Thinker. Below is the list of students and the words that were said about them by their teachers. 

 

Grade 6:

Cole Schmier: Cole has a mind that is always exploring new ideas. He makes powerful connections between the past and the present, asks deep questions, and inspires those around him to think more critically. He loves discussing global issues, imagining solutions, and thinking outside the box. Congratulations to Cole for showing true creativity and initiative in learning!

Ella Krasner: Ella is a student who uses her creativity to make a difference. She’s a thoughtful problem-solver who always considers advisory goals and takes initiative to ensure everyone feels included and valued. She thinks deeply about her learning, asks for support when she needs it, and continues to grow through curiosity and reflection. Congratulations to Ella for showing what it means to think critically and take responsible action!

 

Grade 7:

Gabriel Beaubrun: Gabriel exemplifies the Thinker profile through his curiosity, initiative, and thoughtful approach to every challenge. He consistently demonstrates critical and creative thinking, engaging deeply in discussions and approaching new or unfamiliar situations with determination and openness. Recognized by peers as reliable and humble, Gabriel shows up for others, makes well-reasoned choices, and contributes meaningfully to the learning community through both intellect and character. 

Brinley Ramsburg: With a thoughtful and deliberate approach to learning, Brinley embodies what it means to be a Thinker. She embraces academic challenges with confidence and curiosity, often choosing to explore difficult concepts and think beyond the expected. Whether crafting precise written responses or pausing to reflect before answering a question, Brinley demonstrates a remarkable ability to reason carefully, communicate clearly, and engage deeply with complex ideas. 

 

Grade 8:

Miguel Lemos: Miguel has shown remarkable growth in his ability to think critically and apply his learning to new challenges. Through persistence and reflection, he approaches problems with increasing confidence and insight. His thoughtful decision-making and commitment to improvement highlight both his intellectual maturity and his determination to grow as a learner. Migue is a strong example of how reflective thinking leads to meaningful progress.

Fallon Day: Fallon demonstrates creativity and collaboration in every challenge she takes on. She thinks critically while embracing innovative approaches, often finding unique ways to solve problems and support her peers. Her ability to combine imagination with thoughtful analysis allows her to approach complex situations with confidence and care. Fallon exemplifies the spirit of a Thinker through her curiosity, teamwork, and commitment to meaningful solutions.

 

Faculty Member:

Kimberly Yash: Ms. Yash is a consistent source of innovative solutions, serving as a mentor to faculty and always providing brilliant ideas to improve systems and procedures. Her work demonstrates a commitment to deep inquiry, especially when designing curriculum and lessons that are truly meaningful and relevant, ensuring student learning can transfer into real-world contexts. By always exploring the "why" behind their units, Ms. Yash puts tremendous interest, energy, and love into teaching, resulting in students who are consistently engaged, curious, and eager to learn.
