Performing Arts Band students welcome highly acclaimed Trumpeter

Charles Lazarus visiting band class

On Friday, January 19, 2024, our bands were treated to a master class by world-renowned trumpeter Charles Lazarus. He is currently a member of the Minnesota Orchestra and has played with the Canadian Brass, Dallas Brass, and Empire Brass. When he was nineteen and a student at the Julliard School, he made his Carnegie Hall debut.

After performing some original music that he composed Mr. Lazarus gave our students tips on practicing and how to make their practice sessions more efficient and productive. He then worked with both our Middle School and Upper school brass quintets. Giving them advice on how to get a better blend and sound as an ensemble. Mr. Lazarus then finished the masterclass with a wonderful performance of a beautiful Latin ballad and took questions.

We are truly blessed at Saint Andrew's to have artists of this caliber come in and share their knowledge and experience. A big thank you to Laurie Riffe for facilitating this incredible opportunity for our students.
