Grade 3 and Grade 6 Students Make Papel Picados in Spanish Class

Middle School student and Lower School student hold up their papel picados they made in Spanish Class

Grade 6 students in Accelerated Spanish visited grade 3 on Monday, October 7, to talk about Hispanic Heritage Month and do a craft together. The Middle School students created a slideshow presentation about the history of Hispanic Heritage Month, countries that celebrate it, famous Hispanic and Latino people, and the food associated with various Hispanic and Latino cultures. Following the presentation, the Middle School students taught the Lower School students how to make a papel picado, a traditional Mexican craft that features colorful paper sheets with intricate cut-out details.
