Mr. Joshua Clements, manager of the Tutoring Center and communication instructor at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC), was a guest speaker in Dr. Elle Anthony's Linguistics class to discuss language as a tool for communication. With a B.S. in Writing and Communication, an M.A. in Communication from Valdosta State, and currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Rhetoric, his insights were enriched by his global experiences. He explained how language evolves and the relativity of grammar and shared how the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis transformed his perspective on language.

The diverse backgrounds of the students in the class, who speak languages such as Polish, Lithuanian, Creole, Thai, and Russian, created an ideal environment for exploring how language shapes our perceptions of the world. Mr. Clements emphasized how learning different languages opens doors to understanding other cultures and perspectives. Dr Anthony shared: "We are grateful for his visit, and the students were inspired by his knowledge and ability to connect classroom content with real-life experiences."
