KG Views the Sun with Mr. Scheidegger

Kindergarten girl looking through a telescope

Kindergarten students have been learning all about the solar system. On Wednesday, they had the opportunity to safely observe the sun while using one of Mr. Jim Scheidegger's telescopes.

Mr. Scheidegger explained how the telescope worked and why it allowed the students to safely view the surface of the sun. Students loved looking through the eyepiece, and some of the students even saw sunspots! However, whether the sun looked yellow or orange was up for debate.

Each student was also given a pair of safe solar viewing glasses, allowing them to look directly at the sun without risk to their eyes. The students were thrilled to alk about all that they saw both through the telescope and with their special glasses.
