IB Spanish Students Get a "Taste" of Salsa

US students at Saint Andrew's School learning to salsa in the dance studio

Señora Seiden's Spanish B IB Higher Level students have been studying Cuba this year, exploring its history, culture, and literature. They have read works by renowned Cuban poets Nancy Morejón and José Martí, with Cuba: An American History by Ada Ferrer serving as a key resource.

On Thursday, March 13, the students connected with one of Cuba’s many contributions to the world: Salsa. Thanks to Ms. Rebecca Leslie, students had the chance to learn about its origins and cultural heritage and try out some fundamental dance steps.

Saint Andrew’s School’s location provides an ideal environment for authentic, immersive learning, especially in language and cultural studies.
