MS Students Honored with IB Learner Profile Attribute of Open-Minded

In Chapel on Thursday, January 4, we recognized the newest round of students selected by the grade-level teams for being students who embody the IB Learner Profile attribute of Open-Minded.

According to the IB, Open-Minded students can be described as follows:

“We show empathy, compassion and respect. We have a commitment to service, and we act to make a positive difference in the lives of others and in the world around us.”

To honor the virtues they bring to our school community as role models, the grade-level teams wrote a summary of why these students epitomize being open-minded.

Grade 6 - Zoe Marnell

Zoe embodies this learner profile trait; her way of approaching the world is to be open-minded. It is clear this is how she functions, as she will work with anyone. Moreover, her friendly and approachable nature makes others feel a sense of belonging as she seeks to be inclusive and remains open to diverse points of view.

Grade 7 - Hudson Christoffersen

Hudson is a student who always applies himself with an open mind. He seeks to better himself by asking questions, fostering curiosity, and being willing to explore new ideas.

Grade 8 - Julian Miller

Julian opens his heart and mind to all students, always extending friendship to others. He is extremely respectful both in and out of the classroom and accepting of diverse points of view. His open-mindedness is evident as he remains open to diverse perspectives, considering their merit and being willing to grow from the experience.

Join us in congratulating these students for exemplifying Open-Mindedness!
