Honoring Our Values: The Mural Project

Visual Arts Building murals

Dear Saint Andrew's Community,

We're thrilled to share some exciting news about a recent artistic endeavor that has brought new life to our campus.

This past summer, a group of talented art students came together to envision and create two stunning murals that now adorn the entrance of the Domenico Mazzone Art Building. These 8' x 4' wood panels beautifully capture our school's motto, "Honor Above All," and the theme of "Mind, Body, Spirit."

This 3-week project included student participation from several student artists and the Upper School Visual Art Faculty. It all began with idea generation, planning, priming, design, and painting of the murals.

We want to thank and honor the following students and faculty for their collaboration and talent.

  • Lian Azqueta '27: Developed the original "Honor Above All" concept, featuring a majestic stag surrounded by honor-symbolizing flowers.
  • Sophia Olson '26: Added intricate floral details, celebrating our community's diversity.
  • Blake Roberts '28: Contributed to the "Mind, Body, and Spirit" mural with artistic flair.
  • Mrs. Dejo, Upper School Visual Art teacher: Painted several traditional ceramic and sculpture tools in the Mind, Body, Spirit Mural.

A heartfelt thank you to all the students and Upper School Visual Art faculty who dedicated their time and creative energy to this project. Your work not only beautifies our campus but also reinforces the values we hold dear at Saint Andrew's.

We always seek new ways to showcase our students' artistic ideas and talents. If you're interested in contributing to future collaborative artworks, please don't hesitate to reach out!

These murals serve as a daily reminder of our commitment to honor, creativity, and community.

Next time you pass by the Domenico Mazzone Art Building, take a moment to appreciate the artistry and the values they represent.

Creatively yours,
