Grade 8 MYP Project Presentation

Student presents community project.

Grade 8 students presented their MYP Community Project to Grade 6 and 7 advisory classes this week. The Grade 8 Community Project allows students to explore a passion of theirs and direct it to enact positive change in their community. This is a MYP requirement and is also a Saint Andrew’s School requirement for matriculation into grade 9.

The aims of the Grade 8 Community Project are to encourage and enable students to:

  • Participate in a sustained, self-directed inquiry within a global context

  • Generate creative new insights and develop deeper understandings through in-depth investigation

  • Demonstrate the skills, attitudes, and knowledge required to complete a project over an extended period of time

  • Communicate effectively in a variety of situations

  • Demonstrate responsible action through or as a result of, learning

  • Appreciate the process of learning and take pride in their accomplishments

To support students in this project, they participate in regular lessons during advisory time, along with several half-day sessions during the year. Students are supported by their advisor, who is their project supervisor, along with me, Deborah Martin-Gull, and Naomi Pawlik.  You can access our Grade 8 Community Project website to learn more about the project.
