On February 11 and 13, grade 8 students traveled to Florida Atlantic University (FAU) to work with engineers to build a model pancreas. The students spent two days in the classroom learning about the pancreas and its functions in the body before their visit. When the students went to FAU, they had to attempt to build a model that would balance the glucose and insulin levels using tap water and distilled water. While not all of the students were successful, everyone had a great time.
