Grade 6 Students Build Amusement Park Rides

Middle School students build amusement park rides.

In a culminating project aligned with the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme, grade 6 students in Ms. Crombie's and Ms. Gorora's Design class showcased their integrated coding, electricity, and robotics technology skills by designing and constructing an Amusement Park ride. Combining their programming knowledge from coding lessons, understanding of electrical circuits, and utilizing the Hummingbird robotics kit, students brought their imaginative ride concepts to life. This interdisciplinary project highlighted their technical proficiency and encouraged creativity and problem-solving as they navigated the complexities of designing a functional and entertaining attraction. The resulting Amusement Park ride was a testament to their learning journey within the MYP framework and demonstrated the exciting possibilities when STEM disciplines converge in hands-on projects.
