Grade 1 Service Project Gives Back to Boca Helping Hands

Grade 1 students getting cans from Kindergarten students for service project

Grade 1 classes held their second annual Service Project Initiative as the “taking action” component of their current Unit of Inquiry: How We Organize Ourselves. They have been learning about goods and services, how resources are used to meet needs and wants, and making decisions with money and scarcity.

Each class had a business, such as a temporary tattoo parlor or face painting stations, and also offered cookies, lemonade, or dirt pudding in exchange for two canned food items. Students in the Lower School had the opportunity to visit one of these businesses and drop off their canned goods. We look forward to hearing about how many canned goods are collected by grade 1 at the end of the week for Boca Helping Hands!
