On Friday, February 9, and Saturday, February 10, 33 Saint Andrew’s Middle and Upper School band students were given the opportunity to perform at the District Solo & Ensemble Music Competition and Festival at John I. Leonard High School.
The students performed pieces of literature that required performing a solo alone or in smaller chamber ensembles. They were faced with the challenge of learning new literature prepared over multiple months for an adjudicated performance and then provided with one-on-one ratings and feedback from an adjudicator.
Eleven Saint Andrew’s Band students earned ratings that qualify them to advance to the State Solo & Ensemble event at Dreyfoos School of the Arts in March.
