APES students participated in the Ambassadors to the Wetland program conducted by the Mounts Botanical Garden in West Palm Beach, FL. At Mounts Botanical Garden students learned about the Everglades Ecosystem as well as the environmental impact damaging the wetlands and solutions currently employed to remediate these impacts.

Students used a D-frame dip net to gather macroinvertebrates from aquatic ecosystems. They identified the organisms collected and rated the organism's pollution tolerance as a proxy to indicate the health of the ecosystem. They also received a guided toured the gardens where they learned about poisonous and edible plants growing throughout the garden.
