American Recycle Wins SA's NFTE Innovate South Florida Business Plan Competition

NFTE winners and judges

Nearly 60 students in Ms. Magaletti's Honors Finance and Investment class participated in the 7th annual Saint Andrew's NFTE Innovate South Florida Business Plan competition on Wednesday, March 6, and Friday, March 8, in the Cohen Auditorium.

Students who take this course are required to participate in this competition at Saint Andrew's. The students worked in groups to develop a business idea to pitch along with the financial projections for the business idea.

On Wednesday, groups participated in the semi-final competition, judged by business professionals Lee Feldman, Stu Gold, Dalen Michaels, and Carly Schwartzwald '03. Four groups made it to the finals held on Friday and judged by Phil Nadel, David Shaheen '07, and Rich Veins.

After the four groups presented and answered questions from the judges, it was time for the judges to deliberate and announce the winning team. The winning team was American Recycle, led by Alexia Sotomayor Acuna, Marin Cvelbar, Alex Duros, Margaux Muhletaler, and Finnley Pratt. The group will represent Saint Andrew's at a regional NFTE event in Miami against other private schools in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties on April 10.

Congratulations to all the students for participating in this exciting competition, and good luck to American Recycle!
