A Letter From Round Square Participants in Madrid

Round Square Conference in Spain with Saint Andrew's Students and faculty members posing together in Madrid

Hola from Round Square in Madrid!

We are excited to share with you our incredible experience at the Round Square Conference so far. Representing our school, we had the privilege of joining over 200 students from 30 schools around the world to engage in activities, discussions, and workshops centered around the RS IDEALS (internationalism, democracy, environmentalism, adventure, leadership, and service).

This conference is centered around adventure, which we will definitely experience when we are hiking! Throughout the conference, we participated in various sessions where we learned about astrophysics at the SEK school, our host, worked on sewing pillows for a local breast cancer foundation, and made birdhouses from cork.

One of the highlights of our trip so far is visiting some of Madrid's landmarks, including the Royal Palace, the Plaza Mayor, and the San Miguel Market (where we had some amazing churros!!). These gave us a deeper appreciation for the city's rich culture and history. The lessons from this conference can help to shape our futures and contribute to our school's ongoing commitment to global citizenship and service.

Thank you for supporting us on this opportunity; we'll be home in less than a week!

Warm regards,

Alyssa Thomas '25, Jordana Shapiro '25, Sean Alba '25, Ethan Brady '25, Henry Levinson '25, Joe Ged '26, Ms. Veronica Guinazu, and Mr. David Fisher
