Saint Andrew’s Hosts Top College Deans for ‘Mock Admissions’ Night

Representatives from seventeen of the top colleges and universities around the country joined Upper School students and parents on campus for a ‘Mock Admissions’ program on Thursday, January 10.

The annual event, presented by the College Guidance Office, focused on using “mock” scenarios to show how the college admission process works. The visiting admissions deans chaired the committees while students and parents played the roles of admission committee members at a fictitious college and reviewed college applications to decide who was accepted, wait-listed, or denied.    

Through their work on the mock admissions committee, students and parents gained insights as to what it takes to come out ahead in the competitive college admissions process. They learned the techniques that help make applicants successful, which in turn helps them to plan their high school education and future applications.
