Scots Got Talent: Middle School Thespians Earn High Ratings at Festival

On November 10, Thespian troupe director Ms. Pamela Ascroft accompanied eight Middle School students to the District 3 Junior Thespians Festival at JP Taravella in Coral Springs.

These musically talented Scots lit up the stage earning “Superior” and “Excellent” ratings in individual events.

"I am so proud of the honor our students showed during a long day of performance and competition,” said Pam Ascroft, Middle School Musical Director and Thespian Troupe Director. “Members of the Middle School’s newly created Troupe 88614 conducted themselves with respect, positivity, and kindness at every moment,” she mused.

Several awards were earned at this event by Scots stars. Maya Sharma, Linda Saraniti, Victoria Johnson, and Sophia Gisonda all received “Superior” ratings in their Solo Musical, Duet Musical, and Monologue events. Evelyn Heath, Grace Alba, and Tylaah George all received “Excellent” ratings in Solo Musical or Monologue. Grace Alba, Olivia Gisonda, Victoria Johnson, and Sophia Gisonda received “Excellent” ratings in Ensemble Acting.

Maya Sharma was selected as “Critic's Choice” for Solo Musical, and she performed in the closing ceremonies at the festival.

Select Middle School Scots, Maya Sharma, Linda Saraniti, Victoria Johnson, Sophia Gisonda and Grace Alba will represent Troupe 88614 and compete at the State Junior Thespians Festival in Orlando in January 2019.
