Student Organizations and Associations
Student organizations and associations are just as open and available for participation as clubs and special interest groups, but these organizations play a different role on and off campus. Becoming a member is as easy as it is to join a club and special interest group, but the students seeking involvement understand that membership necessitates a bit more activity and commitment. These organizations, like clubs, must have a registered community service project and secure the guidance of a faculty sponsor, but unlike clubs, they perform school community services that help improve the minds, bodies, and spirits of all students. For example, the Athletic Board, Fine Arts Association, and Scots Ambassadors Organization engage student servant-leaders on and off the fields, in and out of the theatre/gallery, or around campus. These associations assist the school community through athletics, performing arts, or admissions/development; members may be athletes, artists, musicians, actors, or a mixture and want to represent the school in its goals to reach out to the entire community at sports matches, performing arts events, or on prospective student and family days, tours, and orientations. Ultimately, these groups raise school spirit and weave a sense of community and camaraderie into every event.
