Superior Offerings in the Arts

With the support of gifted faculty, students explore and discover their creative potential through a variety of different art offerings that include award-winning performing, visual, and digital media arts courses. Whether it be playing an instrument in the school band, joining our bagpipe troupe, acting in the school play in the 650 seat Roberts Theater, constructing sculptures in the ceramics studio, or creating your own short film in the Kessler Digital Media Institute - art is for every Scot! Additionally, Saint Andrew's offers private classes and lessons both before and after the school day.

Lower School:
Music and visual arts classes begin for our youngest Scots in Junior Kindergarten. For example, every week students sing in groups and play rhythm games to awaken their musical abilities. Some of our youngest Scots also unearth interest in musical theater when taking part in the annual Lower School musical. In visual arts classes, students learn the value of openly expressing their thoughts and feelings through art. Additional offerings include chorus, band, strings, dance, and the production of WSAS news, a weekly video broadcast.

Middle School:
There are many ways students can find their artistic identities including choices in vocal or instrumental music, drama, dance, or video production. We also offer a Middle School musical, thespian society, and dance company. In all of these areas, we believe that Middle School is a time to develop foundational skills as well as hone advance artistic talent.

Upper School:
Students might play their preferred instrument in the string orchestra, symphonic band, percussion ensemble, or even take an advanced guitar class. A student who loves to write music can study songwriting while singers can find and strengthen their voices in one of our choral groups. Performers can take drama and dance courses and further pursue their interests in afterschool programs. In visual art, Upper School students can take drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, graphic design, digital darkroom, and more. Students also can choose from digital media courses include broadcasting/sports broadcasting, digital journalism, multi-media communications, digital media and special effects, film studies, and broadcast journalism.
