Four Squash Scots Excel Against Top US Players

The US Squash season begins each September and culminates with great excitement at the elite US Junior National Squash Championship in March.  The top 32 players in each age group compete at the Arlen Specter National Squash Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  This is the main event for the best players in the country and the competition is fierce.

This year, four of our Saint Andrew’s Scots qualified for this selective event and they did not disappoint.  Alexander Dartnell won all of his matches and became US National Champion in the ultra-competitive Boys Under-17 division.  Alexander dominated the field and won his best of five game championship final in three games: 11-2, 11-0, 11-4.  Lars Gertsen was in fine form and earned a bronze medal and third place in the Boys Under-15 competition.  Alexander Arader and Ty Green displayed excellent skill and sportsmanship in the competitive Boys Under-19 division.

Coaches Wael El Hindi, Charlie Houlton and Mauricio Dasso inspired our Scots and helped them achieve these outstanding performances.

At the end of our second season, our Saint Andrew’s Squash team already boasts a US National Champion in Alexander Dartnell and a remarkable third place finish at High School Squash Nationals.  Go Scots!
