The Saint Andrew’s Varsity football team competed against Spanish River High School on Friday, October 1 defeating the Sharks 51-0. The Scots showed exceptional performances on both sides of the ball and have outscored their last two opponents 90-0.
On offense, Bill Young had a record-breaking night with 240 rushing yards on 13 attempts for six touchdowns. Bill also had one reception for 11 yards. The rushing leader for the Scots with a total of 666 yards and 10 touchdowns in five games, Bill was named the ESPN West Palm Land Rover Player of the Week for his outstanding performance against the Sharks. In addition, Jack DiDonna added to the scoreboard for the Scots with a touchdown of his own compiling 36 rushing yards on two attempts. Jack has 188 rushing yards this season with three touchdowns.
Defensively, the Scots were dominant with seven sacks, two interceptions, and three fumble recoveries on the night. Senior Sean Jordan led the team with four sacks and eight tackles followed by Nick Bailey with two sacks and six tackles. Luke Noble added to the sack total with one sack and two tackles. Saint Andrew’s recovered three fumbles from Addison Hoffman (2) and Blake Birkens (1).
The Scots (2-3) will face North Broward Prep (2-2) away on Friday, October 8 in hopes of making it three in-a-row against a tough Eagles team. Go Scots!
