Scots Swimming Break National Records in First Meet of the Season

The Saint Andrew's Swimming team competed in The King's Academy Short Course Meter Invite on Saturday, September 4, 2021 breaking three national high school records.

The defending state champion in the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke, sophomore Aspen Gersper, broke the national record in the 100 butterfly by .05 seconds with a time of 1:01.01. Gersper broke the record of 1:01.06 that was set in 2015 by Claire Maiocco from Trinity Prep.

The Scots then went on to break two more national records in the girls 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relays. The team of Gersper, Logan Zielinski, Nicole Aguilar, and Erin Miller broke the old 200 freestyle relay record of 1:46.37 with a time of 1:45.70. The Scots bested the record set by the Baylor School in 2018.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Gersper, Aguilar, Ella Martinez, and Miller then claimed the new national record with a time of 3:49.26 once again beating the Baylor School record time of 3:50.57 set in 2008.
