Water Polo Has Strong Showing in First Game of the Season

The 2021 Varsity Water Polo team kicked off their first game of the season against Suncoast High School on Thursday night making it the first game since the pandemic cut their season short in March of last year. The night started with a dominating 23-2 victory by the girls. Erin Miller tied a school record with 12 goals. Lucy Miller scored 5 goals and recorded 4 assists and 6 steals. Jordan Brady and Gabby Weprin both got on the scoreboard with multiple goals and assists. A dominating defense and relentless attack led by the returning players and newcomers Sara Miller and Aspen Gersper made the first game the success that it was.

The girls game provided added confidence and excitement to the boys team who played shortly after. The Scots rolled to a 13-3 victory against the Suncoast Chargers. Senior goalkeeper Landon Sodi recorded 11 saves in the goal with multiple steals and assists. Andras Beleznay led the scoring with 5 goals followed by Ryan Nordheim and Julian Balbi with 2 goals a piece. The entire boys team including our younger newcomers and middle schoolers were able to get in on the action. First year players Mario Suarez and Aitor Arrese-Igor scored their first goal in what was a very memorable night and fantastic start to the season.

The Scots will be back in action against Spanish River on February 9 at 5:00PM. Go Scots!
