Boys and Girls Golf Advance to State Championships
The varsity boys and girls golf teams competed in the FHSAA Class 1A Regional championships yesterday and today for a chance to advance to the state tournament. Both teams claimed the district championship title last week and carried that momentum into this week's match at Crandon Golf Course in Key Biscayne.
The boys finished third (322) in the tournament defeating Gulliver Prep by one stroke with a birdie from Mason Tome '24 on the finishing hole. Senior Justin Ross led the way for the Scots shooting a 77 followed by Rene Nicolas (79), Char Russekoff (82), Mason Tome (84), and Casey Granata (85).
The girls claimed the runner-up regional trophy today with a team total 321 finishing 31 stokes ahead of third place. Junior Hope Hall and Gabby Albert '25 finished tied for first for the Scots both carding a 79 with Alana Hall (80), Ameilie Alcantara (83), and Jennie Pan (89) finishing strong for the girls on a tough course.
Both teams earned the right to compete in the FHSAA Class 1A State Championships that will take place on November 3-4 at Mission Inn Golf Club and Resort in Howie-in-the-Hills, FL.
