Swimming and Diving Hosts First Meet of the 2020 Season

Saint Andrew’s Swimmers and Divers hosted their much anticipated 2020 opening meet against Westminster Academy Friday, October 3 at the Duff Tyler Aquatic Center. Seniors Lucy Miller, Santiago Espinoza, and Ryan Nordheim were double winners to lead the Scots, while Junior Nicole Aguilar placed first in both the 100 fly and 200 IM.

Sophomores Aitor Arrese-Igor (200 IM) and Erin Miller (200 free and 500 free) won their events to help Saint Andrew’s outpace Westminster. Not to be outdone, Freshmen Diego Balbi, Aspen Gersper, and Jake Venezia represented the class of 2042 with solid wins as well. Great team effort from the relays resulted in first place finishes, while divers Ashley Kelly ‘22 and Kaeden Dunham ‘23 had outstanding performances from the 1 meter springboard, adding to the Scots points total.

Coach Sid Cassidy remarked, “It was awesome to see racing back at the Duff!  We are very proud of our athletes for stepping up and competing well and for being great ambassadors of safety in the manner they approached this competition. We are most thankful to all our colleagues in the Athletic Department for making this competition happen in such a safe and responsible manner.” Go Scots!
