Scot Amaia Arizmendi ‘21 Responds to Injustice

During times of strife and struggle, the Saint Andrew’s community is known for their commitment to responding accordingly and offering solutions to problems that we see in our world.
Amaia Arizmendi ‘21 is just one of the latest examples of how several members of the Scots Community are taking matters into their own hands in response to the incidents of injustice that our country has contended with and addressed over the past several weeks. After witnessing the protests in response to the death of George Floyd, Amaia searched and searched for a way that she could contribute while still remaining socially distanced and safe in the midst of a pandemic.
It didn’t take long until Amaia decided to tap into her love of design and craft in order to hand-make her own custom t-shirts from scratch to raise funds for the National Bail Out (NBO). According to their website, the NBO "works with groups across the country to support ongoing bail reform efforts and create resources for organizers and advocates interested in ending pretrial detention.”
Amaia has been working feverishly to respond to her supporters and to fill orders, with proceeds going directly towards the National Bail Out. Enjoy our recent interview with Amaia to learn more and to find out how you can support her tremendous efforts.
SA congratulates Amaia on a job well done!
