Middle School Celebrates its FIRST Tech Challenge Competitive Robotics Team - Scots Bots Team #641
This year the Middle School formed a competitive FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Team called Scots Bots Team #641. The team includes Arda Boylu, Zackary DePalmer, Mateo Goldberger, Imaara Koreth, Nicholas Schwartz, Daniel Stoica, and Bradley Sussman.
In its rookie season, the Scots Bots attended a build scrimmage, scouted a tournament, and competed in two tournaments. They earned excellent results in tournament competition.
At one event, teams were expected to analyze the game, research, and design a prototype, then build a robot while continually improving the functioning and program. Additionally, the challenge involved driving and operating the robot to complete the goal of building the superstructures of our future.
The Scots Bots team competed almost exclusively against high school teams, yet won matches by collaborating well with alliance partners, keeping their robot running well, and working well as a team.
The Scot Bots did not win the tournament finals this year but did get asked to attend FTC Worlds in Houston. Sadly, the current COVID-19 pandemic caused FIRST to cancel this April tournament.
The team's initial goals of success were modest at the beginning of the year. They decided that working together as a team, thinking outside the box, communicating, creating, and having fun were important goals for this year. Team members continue to meet weekly to hone their knowledge and skills in anticipation of the FIRST FTC challenge for the 2020-2021 competition season!
