Tara Bathaii ’21 Invites Scots to Watch Her Tutorial About How to Make Face Masks for Those in Need

As an avid seamstress and handy person, Saint Andrew’s junior Tara Bathaii knew exactly how to respond when she saw that West Boca Medical Center had initiated a call for protective masks of any kind, even the homemade sort.
With a roll of fabric already at her disposal, Tara got to work at her sewing machine and feverishly began to turn her passion for design and high fashion into a production of goodwill. After just a few days, Tara had exhausted all of her fabric with over 40 masks to show for her efforts.
After a brief discussion with Jason Glick, Director of Student Life, Tara was able to accumulate several more yards of fabric in advance of the next phase of her initiative. Together with moral support from the Chinese Culture Club and other interested students, Tara recently hosted a “mask-making party” where she taught others how to join in what she hopes will soon become a community project.
For those who were unable to join last week’s “party,” please click the link below for a recording of her tutorial. Please also feel free to visit Joann’s Fabric to secure your materials and get to work.
