Saint Andrew's Basketball Advances to State Final

LAKELAND — Five games into this season, the Saint Andrew’s boys basketball team suffered a heart-wrenching double-overtime loss at Fort Lauderdale-Calvary Christian. Turns out, that setback helped turn the Scots into a state-championship contender.

After Wednesday night’s 68-58 win over Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna in the Class 3A semifinals at RP Funding Center, Saint Andrew’s is now in position to get longtime coach John O’Connell an elusive state crown.

The second-seeded Scots (25-5) will face No. 1 Jacksonville-Andrew Jackson (25-3) at 10 a.m. Saturday in the 3A final in Lakeland.
