Varsity Track and Field Shine at Benjamin Invitational

The varsity track and field teams competed at the Benjamin School’s invitational on February 12. The boys team took home the bronze medal and the girls took home gold.
For the girls, our High Point Award stays in the hands of Stephanie Lucchesi gaining 24 points across the long jump (2nd), Triple Jump (1st) and she also scored in the 200m run and 4x400 relay. Lily Chavez shared the high point recognition winning the 100 meter hurdles, and placing in the 4x400 relay and in the pole vault.

Jessica McGuffie earned the Scoty award for hard work, determination, and displaying resilience placing in all three of her events including a 1st place finish in the 4 x 800 relay.

Lastly, Holly Coughlan will take home our Most Improved award for scoring 5th in the 800 meter race 4th in the 1600 and 1st place in the 4 x 800 relay.
The boys also did very well at Benjamin. The Most Improved award goes to first-year athlete Chase Woodson, just learning the pole vault with a jump of 8’6”.

Also scoring very high and earning the Scoty Award was Jonah Kotzen, leading the guys to a third place finish with his contributions in the 4 x 1 (1st place) and scoring in both the 100 & 200 meter dash.

Lastly, our two High Point awards go to Ian Noble and Damien Carlsson. Both scored in the 4 x 800 relay (1st) and came in 2nd & 3rd in the 800m run and 1st & 2nd in the 1600m run and finished the day with a second place finish in the 4 x 400 relay.
