Students in grades 10, 11, and 12 are invited to get some “sunshine in their pockets” at the 2019 Sunshine Invitational College Fair this Saturday, October 12 from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm at the Malnik Family Athletic Center on campus.
Seniors: 11:00 am - 1:30 pm
Juniors: 11:30 am - 1:30 pm
Sophomores: 12:00 - 1:30 pm
With over 200 colleges and university admissions representatives attending each year, the Sunshine College Fair opens up the vast landscape of higher education opportunities to our students and parents. “It is a great opportunity to learn directly from colleges representatives about school life, academic programs, and admissions policies,” said Dr. Robert Bouressa, Director of College Guidance.

The Sunshine College Fair has been running for almost 20 years through a combined effort of Saint Andrews, North Broward Prep, Westminster Academy, and St. Thomas Aquinas High School, and is limited to students and parents from the host schools. The event was originally held in a hotel, but it has been hosted at Saint Andrew's since 2008.
The college guidance office offers some tips for families attending to help make the college fair experience productive and informative. One tip they recommend is that before the fair, print out labels that include student contact information, high school names, and graduation year. These labels can be handed to each college rep in lieu of filling out a “request for information” card.
Another tip is for students to identify schools on which to focus, but also stay open-minded about other colleges. “This is a great opportunity to pick up more information and learn about unfamiliar institutions that may be a good match for you,” commented Dr. Bouressa.
“Seniors will often have a chance to connect to admissions reps for the colleges they are applying. It also exposes colleges and universities to our school,” he added.
The Sunshine Invitational College Fair is a busy event at Saint Andrew’s School. It is recommended that families carpool if possible, as this is a large event with limited parking.
Seniors, Juniors, and Sophomores Scots and their families are encouraged to stay on the sunny side of the college admissions process at the Sunshine College Fair this Saturday, October 12. Bring on the sunshine!
